The vintage properties fund in action

Most recently, supporters of the Vintage Properties Fund saved a 1904 Queen Anne style cottage in the Fort Sanders Neighborhood. Once home to Johnathan H. Mauney, the first superintendent of Fort Sanders Hospital, the home was donated to Knox Heritage by the hospital in 2018. Through generous partnership with Fort Sanders Hospital, the dilapidated home was moved from its original location to a lot across the street to avoid demolition during redevelopment.

Thanks to restoration through the Vintage Properties Fund, the once blighted home now stands as a vibrant residence in the Fort Sanders Neighborhood and serves as a tangible example of the power of community advocacy and partnership.
