Knox Heritage Seeks Marketing & Special Events Intern
Paid Internship Opportunity, Accepting Résumés Through February 2, 2024
We are seeking a qualified candidate to expand his/her marketing, communications, and event coordination skills. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing and nonprofit management while working for a well-known community-based organization.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Co-create and execute a quarterly plan for marketing, communications, and event activities with the Director of Development.
- Create graphic designs in Canva for Knox Heritage events and social media.
- Assist with updating and maintaining Knox Heritage’s social media presence; includes researching, writing and scheduling Facebook and Instagram updates, and tracking and measuring outcomes.
- Assist in planning, writing, and managing monthly e-newsletter and other mass email communications.
- Work closely with staff in crafting messaging, activities, and marketing and communications strategies for fundraising events.
- Assist in performing regular administrative duties; including but not limited to writing acknowledgement and thank you letters, assembling sponsor solicitation packets, executing mass mailings, and preparing committee meeting materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of branding, communications, and marketing principles combined with a flair for storytelling.
- Strong eye for design; experience in the production of graphic collateral and/or print design projects a plus.
- Proficiency in multiple communications channels including email and social media.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once, with attention to detail and high standards for work quality.
- Proficient in usage of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; other software (photo, video, etc.) a plus
Time Commitment:
Hours and work dates are flexible within business hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and may be set according to an intern’s class/work schedule. Work will take place at the Knox Heritage office located at 3425 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Some remote work is possible.
Compensation:
$18 per hour for up to 20 hours per week.
