While were aren’t able to accommodate all of our supporters at the Summer Suppers, we hope that you will join us for our other events over the next few months. May is Preservation Month, and we will be hosting the 2023 East Tennessee Preservation Awards on May 18th. We are also already hard at work planning this year’s Scruffy City Soirée that will be held on September 22nd at the Mill & Mine.

Sequoyah Hills

 

The Experience

Recently restored by owners Fred & Amy Trainer, the Sequoyah Hills home built by Ben McMurry, one of the founders of BarberMcMurry Architects, was the McMurry family’s home from 1923 until 2018. Join us in celebrating 100 years since it was built as we lean into the home’s Cape Cod-style with a coastal themed affair. Guests will enjoy an interior tour of the home while learning about its century-long history. Dinner will be served under a shaded tent on the lush front yard, with Chef Drew McDonald of The Plaid Apron preparing a Nantucket-style seafood supper complete with wine pairings.

Enjoy views of the Smoky Mountains and House Mountain as you are immersed in an evening of farmstead dining at Strong Stock Farm. Established in 1791, Strong Stock Farm’s nearly 1,000 acres of rolling pastures and the historic farmhouse, built in the 1820s, sits alongside the Holston River in East Knoxville. Join us in celebrating Knoxville’s agricultural heritage as we step back in time at the 7th generation home and farm of Martha Kern and John Nicely.

The Experience

For this downtown progressive Supper on the 100 Block of Gay Street, guests will visit restored buildings along one of Knoxville’s most unique roads. This intimate evening will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the vintage-inspired Tern Club, fine dining via a curated menu at local restaurant harvest, and dessert in the private residence of hosts Anthony Wilson and Tyler Janow, located in the Commerce Building. Along the route, you’ll learn about the secret underground city hidden below this bustling section of Gay Street, and about the block’s transformation through recent restoration.
