Bridget Mounger, Sr. VP and Mortgage Advisor at Pinnacle, is also a longtime Knox Heritage member and current board member. Below, Bridget shares how she was first introduced to Knox Heritage, what inspired her to join, and more.
I first heard about Knox Heritage through my friend when I moved into my current neighborhood, about 15 years ago. She was very involved with KH and invited me to come along to an event. I immediately fell in love with the mission of the organization and especially all the people! I have been attending KH events ever since.
What made you decide to get involved?
I LOVE old homes. Old buildings, antiques, you name it. I could look at the little details for hours. They tell a story. A story that gets lost in the shuffle of everyday life. There is a need to spread awareness regarding historical properties. The properties are deep rooted in our history of Knoxville and must be recognized, preserved and sometimes even saved from deterioration and/or demolition.
If you were talking to someone else about Knox Heritage, what would you tell them?
Knox Heritage is a fun and very interesting organization. It consists of your friends and neighbors all around town, not JUST in the historic neighborhoods. It is likely that KH has had a part in preserving one of your favorite homes or buildings around town.
What do you think would happen if our organization wasn’t around?
For one thing…the Bijou may not be here! What a shame to think that the theatre was scheduled for demolition in 1974. Thank goodness for the group of citizens that raised the money to save the Bijou! That is the spirit of Knox Heritage!
What would you like the Knox Heritage audience to know about your business?
I am a banker, and my job is to help my clients obtain homeownership. It brings me joy to help my clients and see them prosper in their new neighborhoods. Each one of them is establishing roots to become the future of our beautiful city! My role is a small one, but a very fulfilling role indeed!
