To the supporters of Knox Heritage:
The Board of Cherokee Country Club has completed the demolition of the J. Allen Smith House on Lyons View Pike. They notified the media this morning with a press release, but concerned neighbors had already alerted them and us last night. There were several final efforts made to save the house, but the board of the club has decided to take this action.
Please show your support for the house and honor the efforts of the many citizens who have strived for years to save it by reaffirming your commitment to preservation in our community. We want to respond to this terrible act in a positive way that shows our grief for the loss of the house, but shows the community that preservation is still the right choice.
In addition, please show your support through letters to the editor and continuing your support for Knox Heritage and the many other organizations across our community who are working to preserve our history for future generations.
