Will listing a property on the National Register prevent it from being demolished?

A: By itself, a National Register designation does not prevent demolition unless federal funds are involved. If the property is threatened by a federally funded or licensed undertaking, it must be reviewed to determine if the adverse impact on the historic property can be minimized.
