How do I learn about the history of my property, neighborhood, or town?

A: The McClung Collection at the East Tennessee History Center has city directories, archival maps and atlases, and census records. The History Center is located at 601 S. Gay Street. Land records, including deeds, mortgages and plats, are available at the City/County Building on Main Street. Knox Heritage also occasionally offers educational sessions that can help you learn how to search these records for information.
