What makes a property or place historic?

A: Generally, buildings or places can be considered historic if they are at least 50 years old. However, just because the building is old enough does not make it historically significant. Historic properties may be important to you and/or your family but not have historical significance to the community at large. A property’s historical significance is often a combination of factors, including unique architectural design, an important historical or cultural event occurring at the property, a former owner or resident with notable contributions to the community, and more.
