EAST TENNESSEE PRESERVATION ALLIANCE CALLS FOR NOMINATIONS OF MOST ENDANGERED HISTORIC PLACES IN EAST TENNESSEE
Deadline for “East Tennessee’s Endangered Heritage” Nominations has been extended to January 31, 2010
The East Tennessee Preservation Alliance invites the general public to submit nominations of endangered places or structures to be included in the first annual “East Tennessee’s Endangered Heritage,” which will include locations from Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, and Union counties. The deadline for nominations is Saturday, January 31.
Beginning in February 2010, the East Tennessee Preservation Alliance will release its annual list of endangered places across the region to educate the public and local leaders about the plight of significant historic resources that can range from buildings to landscapes. Preservation strategies are developed for each site on the list and can include working with current property owners, government officials, citizens and/or potential new owners to preserve these important parts of our community’s heritage.
A nomination form is attached below and should include the following information:
- Name and/or address of the endangered property
- Nature of the threat to the property
- Name and contact information for the current property owner (if available)
- Name and contact information for the individual or group submitting the nomination
- Any known historical information about the property (year built, architect, past owners, etc.)
