Knox Heritage holds its 2009 Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, November 18, at the Bijou Theatre in downtown Knoxville. The special guest of the evening is Jack Thomasson, acclaimed professional house planner and featured guest on several HGTV programs. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a reception, followed by the Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone interested in preserving our community’s heritage and revitalizing historic neighborhoods is welcome to attend.
Awards for the best in preservation during 2009 will be presented in the following categories: the City of Knoxville Mayor’s Award and the Knox County Mayor’s Award; the Greystone Award; the “Fantastic Fifteen” for compatible new construction, rehabilitation, and continuing maintenance; the Volunteer of the Year; and the Ronald B. Childress Memorial Award for Preservationist of the Year.

Jack Thomasson’s vast expertise in real estate, architecture, construction, landscape and interior design produces the HGTV Dream Home for the annual HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, the largest sweepstakes in cable television, as well as the new HGTV Green Home, which brings “green” into the mainstream with HGTV’s first home focusing on eco-friendly products and building practices. Mr. Thomasson is currently featured in TV vignettes promoting sustainable living for HGTV’s Generation Green.
