In 1919 Charles Barber designed a Colonial Revival house for Bruce Keener Sr. on Lyons View Pike. Recently purchased and restored by Kreis and Sandy Beall, this house will be the setting for an elegant seated dinner for 30 people prepared by Chef Joseph Lenn of Blackberry Farm.

The Bealls’ passion for bringing to life neglected houses is legendary. Over the course of their married life they have renovated close to forty houses. In 1975, the Bealls purchased the deteriorating Inn at Blackberry Farm and 30 acres in Walland. Charles Barber designed the original building in 1940 for D.R. Lasier. The restored and expanded Inn and surrounding property now comprises over 9000 acres and is consistently rated as one of the top country house hotels in the world.

The evening’s menu will showcase Chef Lenn’s culinary talent for using local ingredients from the Mountain South known at the Inn as “foothills cuisine.” Thad Cox of Ashe’s Wines & Spirits has selected wines to complement each course.

The evening will be a splendid opportunity to enjoy a world class dinner in one of the remaining examples of a house designed by perhaps Knoxville’s most gifted architect, Charles Barber. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to enjoy the glorious food from Blackberry Farm right here in Knoxville.

Hosts: Sandy & Kreis Beall*; Melissa & Tom McAdams; Dorothy & Caesar Stair
