Visit the historic homes and gardens in Old Westmoreland where the waterwheel turns as slowly as the lazy days of summer. In 1920 Judge and Mrs. Daniel Clary Webb purchased 60 acres for their home on Orchard, soon followed by the home of Ed T. Manning, who designed the pump and waterwheel to capture water from the nearby spring. Charles I. Barber of Barber & McMurry designed the English stone housing for the renowned landmark. Shaded by towering hardwoods, stroll the streets, chauffeur driven if preferred, to tour seven homes and gardens. Then join us in a Southern feast reminiscent of Victory Garden produce, barbecues brimming with chicken and pork, orchard-fresh fruits, and hand cranked ice cream as we share an annual Old Westmoreland summer picnic, a tradition begun by the Garden Club in 1952.
