There are four major areas of volunteer work where you can get involved and make a difference.
1. OFFICE/CLERICAL WORK. We often need folks to help stuff envelopes, file paperwork, do research, or organize shelves and closets. Contact the office at 865-523-8008 if you can help for 2 hours or more at a time. No drop-by help, please; we need this kind of work to be arranged in advance.
2. ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE. Knox Heritage accepts, organizes, prices, and sells donated architectural salvage to help support our other efforts. If you can swing a hammer, turn a screwdriver, and don't mind getting a little dusty, we can use you! Learn more about this work here: http://www.knoxheritage.org/node/346 Or, contact Beth Meadows at 523-8008 or beth@knoxheritage.org
3. SPECIAL EVENTS. We often need greeters, and other work requiring lots of smiles, at some of our events. It's a great way to meet other Knox Heritage members and to learn more about the work we do. (Please note: Summer Supper committees are arranged well in advance and independently from the KH office.) Call Becky at 865-523-8008.
4. COMMITTEE SERVICE. Knox Heritage board members and other individuals have made a commitment to meet once a month to help accomplish various aspects of our work in historic preservation. We encourage anyone who might be interested in the following areas and activities to join us at a committee meeting. Not sure where you'd fit in? Visit several committees before you make a decision. Call 523-8008 for more info.
