Knox Heritage Calls for Nominations of Most Endangered Historic Places
From crumbling neighborhood landmarks to disappearing rural landscapes, our heritage often struggles to survive. Fortunately, many historic treasures can be saved from destruction when concerned citizens work together to find solutions. Knox Heritage is inviting the public to be a part of saving our endangered places by submitting nominations for the most endangered historic buildings and places in Knox County. The deadline for nominations is 5:00 p.m. on April 23, 2007.
Every May during National Preservation Month, Knox Heritage releases its list of the most endangered historic buildings and places in order to educate the public and local leaders about the plight of significant historic resources. Often, the endangered buildings and places are representative of other endangered parts of our heritage. This year’s announcement will be on May 15, 2007.
Knox Heritage is committed to acting as an advocate for the endangered properties we identify each year. We invite the community to join us in our efforts to save our endangered heritage through advocacy and action.
Nominations should include the following information:
Name and/or address of the endangered property
Nature of the threat to the property
Name and contact information for the property owner (if available)
Name and contact information for the individual or group submitting the nomination.
Photo of the endangered property (if available)
